Fields of application
The THYRIPOL static excitation system is designed for high power classes ranging from 1300 to over 7700 amperes of generator field current, primarily in hydroelectric, gas, steam, and nuclear power plants, and stands out for its absolute reliability and maximum efficiency. The SES forms the core of the generator excitation and ensures several key operational benefits:
- Stable grid voltage even with fluctuating loads.
- Rapid response during grid disturbances or load changes.
- Improved grid stability through dynamic reactive power control.
- Application in hydroelectric, gas, steam, and nuclear power plants
A modern static excitation unit meets strict technical and safety requirements:
- High reliability through redundant components and semiconductor technology
- High control accuracy in the millisecond range to ensure optimal voltage and frequency stability
- Safety functions such as undervoltage and overvoltage protection as well as current limiting
- Easy integration into existing control systems via digital interfaces (e.g., Modbus, Profinet)
- Low maintenance compared to rotating exciters since there are no mechanical parts susceptible to wear.
